The Challenge

Finding the right graphic designer was often a fragmented and time-consuming process. Clients struggled to identify qualified designers, compare portfolios, and manage projects efficiently, while freelance designers lacked a centralized platform to showcase their work and receive quality opportunities. We saw an opportunity to simplify this experience by creating a transparent online marketplace that connected both sides.

Overview

Designo was a startup that I co-founded to bridge the gap between businesses and freelance designers. The platform enabled clients to browse designers’ portfolios, select the most suitable creative professional, place orders online, and manage the entire design process from a single platform. Although the startup’s growth was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, it provided invaluable experience in entrepreneurship, product design, and digital product development.

Responsibilities

Co-created the business model and product strategy.
Designed the user experience and interface for the platform.
Built the brand identity and visual language.
Designed the end-to-end service ordering workflow.
Created a transparent collaboration process between clients and designers.
Worked closely with developers throughout the product development cycle.
Planned user acquisition and digital marketing strategies.
Improved the product based on user feedback and testing.

Solution

We built an online marketplace where businesses could discover designers based on their portfolios, select the right creative partner, submit project requirements, and complete payments securely within the platform. Designers received projects through a structured workflow with defined deadlines, while clients could track progress from submission to delivery. By digitizing the entire process, we created a more efficient, transparent, and trustworthy experience for both clients and designers.

Successfully launched an online marketplace for design services.
Built a scalable platform connecting clients with freelance designers.
Standardized the workflow for managing design projects.
Grew the startup to a team of nearly 20 members before the pandemic.

Why this project matters

Designo represents one of the most defining projects in my career because it shifted my perspective from designing interfaces to building products that solve real business problems. As a Co-Founder, I was involved in every stage of the product lifecycle—from identifying a market opportunity and shaping the business model to designing the user experience and launching the platform. Although the startup’s journey was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, it strengthened my ability to think strategically, build digital products, and collaborate across design, business, and technology.
